Network marketing is not taught in school. As a matter of fact, most skills you need in order to be a successful entrepreneur are not taught in school. These skills are learned through experience. Mistakes are a vital part of learning in network marketing and the less you worry about them, and keep your focus on your goals, the better. It is common and normal at first to be skeptical about your ability to succeed and to help others be successful. part of the huge value of network marketing is the way it challenges you to overcome personal fears, doubts, lack of confidence and fear of rejection.

Once you have overcome these challenges, you are free to focus on new skills like active listening, relationship-building, money management, time management, organization and investing for your future.

Starting a new business, especially something like a franchise, can be overwhelming. If you have a current job or source of income that puts food on your table, I would suggest staying with it for now.

The Rugged Individual versus the Networker
Robert Kiyosaki talks about past great individual business giants like John D. Rockefeller and J. P. Morgan. In the 1950's two powerful systems of business began to emerge that harnessed the power of networking. These were FRANCHISING and NETWORK MARKETING. Franchising faced much criticism early on and has withstood the test of time. Network marketing also has received and continues to face criticism. Much of this criticism has been well deserved as the industry has made mistakes in its growth process. The industry is maturing, though, and there are many solid, ethical companies available. In the long run, a successful networker has the potential to out-earn most professionals like doctors, lawyers, accountants and other "rugged individuals". I have lived in both worlds and am willing to share my experiences with you.

What Are Your Values?
The values of an employed person are different from those of an entrepreneur. I am not saying one set of values is better than the other. Employed people tend to fear risk, seek security and have strong belief in their own efforts. Entrepreneurs tend to trust in their success, crave freedom and have faith in others to help them be successful. If your values match those of the entrepreneur, then seriously consider network marketing.

In This Business, Leadership is Not Optional
In his book, THE BUSINESS SCHOOL FOR PEOPLE WHO LIKE HELPING PEOPLE, Robert Kiyosaki states: "Money does not go to the business with the best products or service. Money flows to the business with the best leaders and the best management team." Another quote from Kiyosaki: "Money always flows to the leader. If you want more money, simply become more of a leader."

From my ten years of experience in network marketing, it appears that these statements are absolutely true. I have attracted people into my network who have similar beliefs to mine. As I have expanded my beliefs, I have attracted new people. As I have developed my leadership skills, others have stepped up to do the same.
