vitamins and joint supplements

Postby smurphey » Tue Jul 20, 2010 6:26 pm

I recently purchased my first horse, a quarter and belgium draft. She's ten and very sweet and healthy. I have her on bermuda grass twice a day and I am wondering if a joint supplement and vitamins are neccesary at this point in her life. She recently had a vet check and all was well! The vet recommended keeping it simple since this particular cross does very well on a simple diet. I am in Encinitas, CA. We ride two to three hours trail three to four times a week. She's also a great water drinker! I also had a fecal done on her and she had no signs of worms. I do give her a herbal wormer. Thank you - Shelly Murphey

Shelly,
I agree with your vet about the simple diet. A good whole food vitamin/mineral supplement should be all you need. I love the Simplexity APA blend for this purpose. With it you get digestive support, antioxidants and a wide range of easily assimilated vitamins and minerals. I would think a 2 tsp a day would be fine for your horse. Madalyn
